Photo Journal: A Love Letter from Paris
Paris is a city with many nicknames; most notably the La Ville Lumière, which means the city of light. The name comes from both its fame as a centre of education and ideas, as well as its early adoption of street lighting. But its spectrum of elegant shades of cream may not be fully appreciated without the clouds, rain and glow of the cast iron lamps that line the cobblestone streets. Surprising but true, it is on the dreariest of days that Paris shines.
Somehow the Parisians, in a way that only they can, have created a timeless city that from every angle is most instantly distinguishable and recognizably beautiful. Despite the mixed weather we encountered in our 3 days sojourn through this bustling metropolis, the city provided the most intimate welcoming through its delicious food, wicker chair lined brasseries, gothic and modern architecture and formal landscaping.
Although Paris may not be the most ideal destination for the budget-friendly adventurer (although affordable and amazing meals can be found outside the main tourist hubs), it is an icon worth seeing none the less. We’ve put together this photo journal to share with you our favourite Parisian moments, from the grandeur of the wrought-iron spire of the Eiffel tower, along the Champs-Elysees to the gargoyled Notre Dame cathedral, lamplit bridges crossing the Seine and Jardin de Luxembourg. Each new encounter and rounded corner conjured up nostalgic feelings etched in our minds after lifetime of admiring this culturally-rich, and decadently elegant city from afar.
Tell us, what is your top highlight from the city of love, the city of lights, PARIS.
